Brief history of SDL.NET

From SDL.NET

  • 2001-Aug-08: .NET SDL wrapper starts up at the CsGL (http://csgl.sourceforge.net) project under Lloyd Dupont.
  • 2002-Apr-30: .NET SDL wrapper is split off from CsGL and becomes a separate project (CS-SDL) at http://cs-sdl.sourceforge.net under Paul Saunders (nus).
  • 2003-Feb-20: Ross becomes maintainer of CS-SDL (http://cs-sdl.sourceforge.net)
  • 2003-Mar-16: A separate SDL wrapper effort, SDL.Net, run by Will Weisser joins forces with CS-SDL. SDL.Net code is merged into the CS-SDL code tree and the project is re-named SDL.Net. SDL.Net 1.3 is released.
  • 2003-May-30: Klavs Martens commits code for SDL_Image.
  • 2003-Jun-04: SDL.Net 1.4 is released including Lucas Maloney's new SDL_TTF code.
  • 2003-Dec-04: David Hudson (jendave) takes over the SDL.NET project and releases v1.5.
  • 2004-Feb-13: jendave joins Randy Ridge's Tao project (http://www.mono-project.com/Tao) and releases Tao.Sdl: low-level .NET bindings for SDL.
  • 2004-Jul-21: Tao becomes part of the Mono project.
  • 2004-Aug-21: Vector sets up the #sdl.net IRC channel at irc.freenode.net
  • 2004-Nov-22: SDL.NET 2.0.0 is released (http://cs-sdl.sourceforge.net/index.php/New_Release_SDL.NET_2.0.0.) based on Tao.Sdl and bringing CLS-compliance to SDL.NET.
  • 2005-Feb-24: SDL.NET 3.0.0 is released (http://cs-sdl.sourceforge.net/index.php/New_Release:_SDL.NET_3.0.0-1_released) with a much more object-oriented interface inspired by Pygame (http://www.pygame.org).
  • 2005-May-18: SDL.NET 3.1.0 is released (http://cs-sdl.sourceforge.net/index.php/New_Release:_SDL.NET_3.1.0-1_released) with Sprite functionality.
  • 2005-Aug-16: Rob Loach joins the project.
  • 2005-Nov-22: SDL.NET 4.0.0 is released. Sprite and Music systems were revamped. NeHe tutorials were added. Website now uses MediaWiki.
  • 2006-Oct-17: SDL.NET 5.0.0 is released. This brings .NET 2.0.0 functionality to SDL.NET.
  • 2007-Apr-06: Bioslayer joins the project.
  • 2007-May-06: SDL.NET 6.0.0 is released.
  • 2008-May-01: SDL.NET 6.1.0 is released.
